United Projects for Aviation Services Company (UPAC), a leading commercial real estate and facilities management company, donated specialized medical gowns and child-friendly medical hand wash dispensers to the NBK Children Hospital for Haematology & Oncology.
The donated gowns and dispensers will benefit an estimated 150 children. The gowns are fashioned with colourful prints and shapes, an intentional contrast to the usual medical white. Bright colours in paediatric wards have been shown to create a more welcoming environment for patients, particularly children who may feel psychosocial stress as a result of the treatment.
Gowns are also practically designed to allow medical teams to provide medical care to the children in more comfortable procedure. Meanwhile, the child-friendly hand wash dispensers will be posted throughout the hospital, dispensing liquid soap to help promote cleanliness in the hospital. The dispensers meet international health and safety regulations.
The NBK Children Hospital is the only paediatric hospital in Kuwait that specializes in treatment for children with solid tumours, blood diseases and bone marrow transplant cases.
Dr. Mona Bou Rhama, Head of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Department said “We thank UPAC for their donation to NBK hospital and their continuous support to the community”.
Nadia Akil, CEO UPAC said “We strongly believe in giving back to our local communities. The donation to NBK Children Hospital not only provides practical goods to the hospital, but by making them kid-friendly, UPAC was able to introduce a small element of fun to a hospital routine.”
